Creative Challenge "April Showers"

                                                           Dear friends,

did you know that VESPA scooters celebrated their 80th anniversary on April, 23rd? This plus "April Showers" challenge inspired me to share snapshots of a young Purrchester citizen, who I recently met on her way to Carrot Field Hollows for a shopping tour:

                                                          Come Rain - Come Shine

On a fair April morning, young Apple McClaw borrowed her fiancé's scooter to take a trip to the farm shops of a small village not far from Purrchester city limits. As Juice was working from home that day, evaluating the latest statistics on fire moths found in Purrwood Forest National Park (where he is working as a wildlife biologist ever since his graduation, last autumn), he had nothing against it.

Apple started her trip in bright sunshine. She enjoyed the fresh air outside the city and the wind in her whiskers ... the young Scottish Fold cat couldn't help smiling at the beauty of the blooming nature around her - what a wonderful day this was going to be...

However, April is a month of shifting weather - and when the sky changed its colour from blue to grey, the first raindrops came trickling from above. Now Apple was glad that Juice had given her the advice to use the rain cape which was in the basket behind her seat (The tomcat always used to have rain gear on board - for just in case. As an experienced motor biker, he is always well prepared to all weather requirements, after all  )

Well protected under her rain cape, Apple reached Carrot Field Hollows, where she found the freshest and tastiest of treats - and also a freshly baked baguette, which she bought from Pearl Babblebrook at Belle Chocolate's Bakery - so crunchy, warm and yummy that she couldn't help taking a first bite - before riding home across the blooming country road.

                                                                            ***

That day, Apple & Juice enjoyed very delicious canapés for 5 o'clock tea.

                                                                       -THE END-

  1. Hi Florence,
It seems Apple is quite an expert at riding Juice’s scooter, even in the rain!
She was lucky Juice was so well-prepared and kept a rain cape behind the seat, otherwise, she would have arrived home soaked, and as far as I know, cats aren't very fond of getting wet!
I also spotted the baguette and the milk in the basket. I just hope the bread didn’t get too soggy and that the canapés were delicious.
By the way, I’m so impressed with the photo editing! It truly feels like she’s riding on a real road with those beautiful blooming trees.
Loooking forward to more updates about Apple and Juice or any of the other residents of Purrchester or Carrot Field Hollows.
    Hugs!

  2. Thank you, dear Cutata, for your kind feedback on my snapshots :D In fact, it was my first attempt ever, using photo editing software and a background provided by AI...
You are absolutely right: Most cats aren't happy when they get wet. As for the baguette, Apple put it in her stove to dry the crust a bit, before preparing the dinner. In the end, the canapés (with smoked salmon and tuna natural style) were quite tasty and Juice enjoyed the evening with his fiancée, as he could finish the statistical evaluations on fire moths that day. To celebrate, he even opened a bottle of catnip wine... ;)

  3. Congratulations on producing these great pictures, Florence!

Apple is quite the modern kitty, whizzing along on the Vespa. And I don't blame her for taking a bite from that freshly baked bread. I could manage that right now!

I good response to the April Showers theme. I've only just finished writing my story and I have to figure out how best to photograph some of the storyline. I doubt I'll finish it before the end of the month. Well done for getting yours done in time!

I hope May proves to be a good month for you. 😺

  4. Hi Florence!

Apple is so daring, as always! So glad that she could use Juice's rain coat to avoid getting drenched. The baguette and the canapés the couple shared sound delicious. Lovely pictures, love the rain effect!
