Challenge 2026.7 Heroes and Villains

In Sylvania, we see heroes every day - crittizens who go the extra mile to help their communities. But the definition of a hero can be subjective. Flexible. Those that avidly follow hobbies and interests might use the term, citing favourite musicians and television stars. Children often do this, and Jackson's family are a prime example. Beverly and her cousins are fanatical about the pop star Dingle Boy. Brendan's hero is - of course - TV legend Flash Gopher. But are there other heroes here?

Heroes and Villains

It was the time when a new Flash Gopher story was broadcast and - predictably - Brendan would attend a Telly Party at Lucky Snow-Warren's house to absorb another chapter of this televised space fantasy. Orton was now part of the entourage so they added another seat for him.

August Challenge - 2026.8 Back to School

 

The Challenge theme for August is: Back to School 

As August is the start of the school year here I thought it made a good theme for Challenge 8. 

Tell a story about starting school (first day or returning after summer) 

Create school uniform or shop for it 

Craft supplies for a class room 

Share your village school 

Don't forget the teachers! Show them as they prepare for the year ahead 

What about lunch? Prepare a packed lunch or what is served in the dinner hall

Craft, tell stories and have fun!

Challenge 2026.6 Avid Tourists

Delayed, but here is my submission for June's challenge - Tourism. A while ago I introduced the parents of Eliza Butterglove and showed them to be keen travellers. This seemed a great opportunity to talk about a particular trip they had taken.

I was a little cheeky, giving a cameo to Cutata's wonderful characters - Peter & Peace - and I hope that's okay.

There are a few call backs to earlier stories but I've added notes at the end to document where they are, should anyone wish to look back.

Avid Tourists

Arriving home from my morning constitutional I heard two things - the thunder of children's feet running upstairs and laughter from my living room. 

 

 

Entering, all became clear. Cornelius and Letitia Dandelion were holding court and Eliza, Cecile and Merlin were still chuckling from whatever had been said.
