Wee Explorers (Winter challenge) by H Thistlethorn

Winter challenge: Wee Explorers

The Wee Explorers had a meeting to talk about the wildlife found in winter and ways to help them survive.

Welcome Everyone to Wee Explorers

Algernon talked about water and how important it is for birds to have access to it, plus the sorts of food that should be given. There's an annual bird count this time of year and so Algernon wanted to give the boys the info so they could take part.

There's also some moths flying through the winter so he also told them about those. Mammals also came up in the talking as some come closer to houses in winter than other times of year.

  1. Cutata: What a cute bunch of litte explorers! It’s great to hear they are learning how winter wildlife copes and how they can lend a hand.

  2. Florence Holiday: What an instructive meeting Algernon held with his Wee Explorers. Before my inner eye, I can see everyone swarming out with a block and pencil counting birdies or helping Algernon feeding wildlife at a feeding spot. Great activities for the little chaps!

  3. Lovely to see your entries for the 2026 challenges, HThistlethorn.  Your style is unique and I enjoy seeing the little rooms you construct, the wonderful cross stitching and card craft you incorporate, and - of course - the gang of Wee Explorers who populate ýour snapshots of Sylvanian life.

  4. Your little explorers are always so cute! I do wonder how my new bird family would feel about being counted. I have a hilarious mental image of tiny children knocking on their door one by one, looking beadily at them, making a mark on a notebook, and leaving... :D
